scrumpcious (スクランプシャス) はヴィンテージ買い付けの旅からスタートしました。
東京 – 鎌倉と時を経て、現在 小さな真鶴半島で、服やオブジェをつくり、2015年に出会った 荒地の開拓を続けています。
傷んだら、直し、古く艶のある表情になった頃には、共に人生を歩むような相棒へと。
服にもそんな役割が与えられたなら、メイドインジャパンに携わる皆、嬉しいことではないかと思います。
つくること。 直すこと。 場を整えること。
そんな日々を繰り返してきて、大きくなることが 私たちの行き先ではないと気づきました。
会社と呼ぶには、足りないことだらけかもしれませんが、
こんな会社があっても、それもまたいいのではないかと思います。
愉快でいられ、愉快が集い、海の向こうへリレーしていくこと。
それが私たちの喜びです。
Scrumpcious began in 1999, with journeys in search of vintage pieces.
From Tokyo to Kamakura, and now on the small Manazuru Peninsula, we make clothing and objects while continuing to tend and shape a piece of wild land we came across ten years ago.
When something wears out, we mend it.
And as it grows old, taking on a patina of its own, we hope it becomes a companion through life.
If clothing can have such a place in someone’s life, we believe it would bring joy to everyone involved in making things in Japan.
Making things. Mending things. Tending a place.
As we have repeated these things day after day, we came to realize that growing bigger is not where we are headed.
We may fall short in many ways of what one might call a company.
But perhaps there is room in the world for a company like ours, too.
To stay joyful.
To have joy gather here.
And to pass that joy onward, across the sea.
That is what brings us joy.
